Conference Interpreting

As an interpreter I can support you at the following events:

  • Conferences, congresses, meetings
  • Lectures, training sessions
  • Festivities, receptions
  • Company and city tours
  • At public authorities, courts and the police
  • On-line events

On-sight Interpreting

Classic conference interpreting comprises both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting and ranges from large-scale congresses to confidential one-to-one conversations.

The advantage is that not only all interlocutors and participants but also the interpreters are at the same venue. As a result, communication works smoothly, since everyone can virtually see what the conversation is about and no visual or acoustic information is lost.

Remote Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpreting

Since 2020, remote simultaneous and consecutive interpreting has gained ever more importance. As the interpreter, I am connected to the event over the Internet. Other participants may also log on to the event remotely or participate in person.

I can provide remote interpreting either from my own office or from a specifically equipped interpreting hub. A precondition for remote interpreting to work properly are stable Internet connections and top-notch headsets.

Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting is the translation of the speaker’s words while he is speaking. It requires the equipment of the event venue with conference technology and interpreters’ booths. For smaller events, one can also fall back on wireless tour-guide systems.

Remote simultaneous interpreting is also an option. I can render the service from a specifically installed interpreting hub or from my own office.

The advantage of simultaneous interpreting lies in the simultaneity of the translation. So, no time is lost.

Consecutive Interpreting

As a consecutive interpreter I take notes while the speaker presents his speech. After a semantic paragraph is finished, I interpret it into the foreign language.

The benefit of this kind of interpreting is that usually no technical equipment is required. However, additional time needs to be reserved for the interpretation. Consecutive interpreting can also be done remotely.

Interpreting in a Team

Interpreting is a highly complex procedure that requires top-level concentration on the part of the interpreter. So, as conference interpreter, I cannot work on my own for an extended period of time. Therefore, it is common to work in a team of interpreters and take turns.

I will be pleased to help you find a team of qualified conference interpreters.
